Human Performance

Coaching

I coach athletes with the same rigor I bring to software systems: measure, program, iterate, and optimize for long-term performance.

Coaching as Systems Thinking

Coaching and engineering draw on the same core skill: breaking a complex system into understandable, actionable pieces. Explaining a clean & jerk to a beginner takes the same clarity as explaining a distributed system to a non-technical stakeholder — strip away the jargon, focus on the fundamentals, and build understanding one rep at a time.

Progress in the gym, like progress in engineering, is data-driven. I observe athlete metrics, scale workouts logically, and iterate on programming to avoid injury and plateaus — the same feedback loop I use to tune a system in production.

What Coaching Reinforces

Communication & Empathy

Meeting athletes and engineers where they are, translating complexity into clear, actionable steps.

Data-Driven Iteration

Tracking metrics, scaling logically, and adjusting programming before problems become injuries — or incidents.

Leadership Under Load

Staying calm and clear when the workload, physical or technical, gets intense.

Building High-Trust Teams

Whether it's a squad in the box or an engineering team, ownership and trust are built the same way.

Read the Crossover

I write about the overlap between coaching, craftsmanship, and code on the Logs.
